COMPASSIONATE FRIENDS

The Compassionate Friends group supports every family experiencing the death of a son, daughter, brother, sister, or grandchild. It offers online support through live chats in a friendly atmosphere to develop friendships with people who understand what you are going through.
The group also offers over 30 private and moderated Facebook groups to connect you to people experiencing the same loss you are.

HEAL GRIEF

The HealGrief Actively Moving Forward program is free and aims to connect, support, and empower young adults up to and including age 30 to move forward in memory of the person they lost. The app makes it easy for young adults to connect and includes readings, videos, group chats, individual chats, and virtual support calls. Connect, heal, and be understood. They have resources such as online support, virtual programs, healing through art, and more.

FIRST CANDLE

First Candle is focused on preventing sleep-related infant deaths and supporting pregnancy and infant loss. Peer support and online resources can be great tools for families coping with loss.
First Candle is an organization dedicated to educating families about safe sleep for infants and providing support to families who have experienced miscarriages or infant loss.

CLAIRE BIDWELL SMITH

Claire Bidwell Smith is a therapist, renowned grief expert, and the author of three books of nonfiction: The Rules of Inheritance, After This: When Life is Over Where Do We Go? and Anxiety: The Missing Stage of Grief. Claire offers numerous online programs for grief in addition to working with people one-on-one. Led by her own experiences with grief and fueled by her work in hospice and private practice, Claire strives to support all kinds of people experiencing all kinds of grief.

WIDOWED VILLAGE

The Widowed Village is an online community created by Soaring Spirits. It offers forums and connects you to people who are similar to you in age, location, and date of widowhood. Soaring Spirits is an inclusive, non-denominational organization focused on hope and healing through the grieving process. They are positive and forward-thinking while focusing on offering our members the tools and resources they need to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of the death of a spouse or life partner. They believe that access to hope changes lives; they can prove that hope matters.

HEARTBEAT

HEARTBEAT Survivors After Suicide is a nonprofit organization helping people who are grieving a loved one who died by suicide by offering comfort, encouragement, and direction. This group provides a monthly support meeting on the first Tuesday of each month.
The virtual meeting is open to anyone. However, the group isn’t limited to this one type of support, except for people living in or near Colorado. If you happen to live near one of the chapters in Colorado, there are one to three monthly in-person meetings for each location.

CANCER CARE

CancerCare online support groups connect people with cancer, loved ones of those with cancer, and people who have lost a loved one to cancer. This group is led by licensed oncology social workers who can offer you professional support and guidance. A cancer diagnosis turns a person’s world upside down — emotionally, physically, and financially. CancerCare can help. They provide free, professional support services, including resource navigation, counseling, support groups, educational workshops, publications, and financial assistance to anyone affected by cancer.

MISS FOUNDATION

MISS Foundation was founded specifically for parents grieving their children. The foundation offers a variety of resources, including a 24/7 moderated forum. A mentorship program pairs bereaved parents, siblings, and grandparents with another person who has gone through a similar experience from the same perspective. Mentors are trained volunteers who will meet in person or online, depending on the distance. They have access to counseling resources, advocacy information, research on traumatic grief, education for healthcare providers and community members, and support services for those grieving the death, or impending death, of a child.
